Ever since growing up in Colombia in the ’90’s, Carlos Puerto has used hair as his medium to express beauty and his creativity. His first muse was his mother and Carlos would often make her beautiful, black puffy hair even puffier! His natural curiosity and passion for beauty made him eager to experiment and research techniques and styles, practicing on his friends, family and whomever he could find to be a willing subject. Everyone around him knew that he had a gift so he was encouraged to pursue hairdressing as a career. Carlos worked in the high-end salons north of Bogota, where he was inspired to get creative with color and texture, before landing in New York where he began providing hair and makeup inspirations for photo shoots. When he’s not on a shoot, Carlos enjoys working in salons and with his private clients.
